Our Mission
Purposes of the Kuyahoora Community Hall
- To foster religious faith based activities, especially but not limited to service to the larger community, inter alia in cooperation with local churches and groups that may or may not be sectarian, while remaining itself strictly non-sectarian.
- To foster educational activities, such as presentation of instructional programs and conduct of learning activities outside the scope of conventional schools,
inter alia in cooperation with local groups such as the Kuyahoora Senior Citizens.
- To foster literary activities, such as lectures, discussions, workshops and other programs, inter alia in cooperation with local libraries.
- To foster amateur sports activities leading to national or international competition, in cooperation with local groups such as the Kuyahoora Kickers running club and Kuyahoora Cougars cheerleading squad.
- To foster charitable, scientific, prevention of cruelty to children or animals, or other purposes as may be allowed for 501(c)(3) public charities, as needs and opportunities arise, in cooperation with local groups and community members.
- To accomplish the foregoing primarily but without limitation by restoring, preserving, maintaining and operating the National Register of Historic Places listed Newport Masonic Temple (hereinafter the “Hall”) and any other properties entrusted to the company’s care, as fully accessible space suitable for governmental or nonprofit organizations, public or private gatherings, community programs, et cetera, especially but not limited to those related to Freemasonry, historic preservation, environmental conservation or the Kuyahoora Valley.
- In accordance with the wishes of the donor of the Hall, as reflected in the deed, to keep the Hall accessible for the use and benefit of each and every member of Newport Lodge #455 Free & Accepted Masons (F&AM) and its successors.
- To engage in all activities necessary in the furtherance of the foregoing, including without limitation fund-raising.
- To engage in any activities compatible with the foregoing and allowed for 501(c)(3) public charities, as approved by a governing Board of 3 to 12 members, which shall include, in perpetuity as long as the following named organizations or their successors continue to use and provide substantial financial or volunteer support for the Hall, at least one representative each from Newport Lodge #455 F&AM and Kuyahoora Chapter #145 Order of the Eastern Star (OES).
